2010 Medal of Honor Winner Announced

On behalf of the jury for the 2010 AIA Northwest & Pacific Region Medal of Honor, we are pleased to announce this year's recipient: Bill Bain, FAIA, of NBBJ Seattle.

This year the AIA NW & Pacific region received many outstanding nominations. However, it was Bill Bain's unparalleled leadership, impact on the architectural profession in the region, and his history of service that profoundly impressed the jury this year; making Bill their unanimous selection for this honor.

Norman Strong, FAIA, had this to say about Bain's nomination.

"Our Region is deep with architects as leaders that have been a force for our profession for many years and for years to come. As the 2010 Chair of the Medal of Honor Committee, I am very proud to announce Bill Bain, FAIA as the recipient of the 2010 AIA Northwest & Pacific Region Medal of Honor. His record of contributions to both the AIA and our profession is both a humbling and inspirational experience. I speak for the entire Committee in saying CONGATULATIONS to Bill for recognition well deserved. We all look forward to hearing Bill's story at the Regional conference in Eugene! I hope you can join us."

Bain has been instrumental to the AIA in the Region. He served as President of AIA Seattle and AIA Washington Council; President of the AIA Northwest Regional Architectural Foundation; Chair of the AIA Northwest Regional Student-Professional Fund; and a co-commissioner of AIA Seattle's 100-year anniversary celebration.

Please join us this year, October 13-16, at the AIA NW & Pacific Region Conference to celebrate and recognize Bill Bain, FAIA as the 2010 Region's Medal of Honor recipient.
